How Many People Die To Snakes A Year Worldwide? The Guadeloupe blind snake or Guadeloupe worm snake (Typhlops guadeloupensis) is a species of blind snake that is endemic to Guadeloupe, located in the Caribbean Lesser Antilles. It is fairly widespread on the main islands of Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre, but is not recorded on the other Guadeloupean islands.

Forty-seven species of snake have been recorded in Trinidad and Tobago, making the snake population of this area the most diverse in the Caribbean. Forty-four of these snake species are found in Trinidad and twenty-one in Tobago.

Tropical rainforests are home to a huge diversity of reptiles (snakes, lizards, turtles, tortoises, and crocodiles) and amphibians (frogs, toads, salamanders, newts, and worm-like caecilians).

Climate and Wildlife
Wildlife consists mainly of birds, fish and shellfish, as well as small lizards called “mabouyas” and “anolis”, iguanas and trigonocephalus snakes that are only found in Martinique. The “manicou”, a type of opossum, is one of the rare mammals to be found in the Antilles.
The snakes on the flag are fer-de-lance vipers that are natively poisonous snakes found in Martinique. It was first hoisted as the ensign of the new French settlement of St Lucia and Martinique on 4th August 1766, and it was decreed to be used by the vessels of these two settlements.
The island of Guadeloupe. The official language of the small Caribbean country of Guadeloupe is French, although Creole is also commonly spoken. English is also spoken although the numbers are low compared to French and Creole.
Guadeloupe is neither the cheapest or the most expensive island in the Caribbean. Because it is a French département and uses the Euro, the prices you encounter may be higher than what you might expect for the region.
Montserrat, nicknamed “The Emerald Isle of the Caribbean” both for its terrain and the heritage of its inhabitants, is a British territory in the Leeward Islands and it is considered to be the safest island in the Caribbean, with its last recorded murder occurring in 2008.
The island of Guadalupe is a remote scuba diving destination off the Pacific coast of the Baja Peninsula in Mexico. Although its quite a distance from shore, it has become famed for its shark encounters. In addition, you’ll need to stay on the boat (called a liveaboard), as the island has no accommodation for tourists.

Is it safe for me to visit the Valle de Guadalupe? Contrary to media sensationalism, the vast majority of Mexican territory is totally safe for foreign visitors. Safety is a top priority on every one of our tours, and the Valle de Guadalupe itself is so peaceful that never at any time will you question your security.
While there are a few snake-free places around the world, the Caribbean isn’t one of them. You won’t see snakes too often in the Caribbean. These slithery little creatures have declined dramatically in number over the past century, thanks to the introduction of non-endemic species on the islands.
Similarly, the northernmost bits of Russia, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Canada, and the US have no native snakes, and the southernmost tip of South America is serpent-less as well. That makes Alaska one of two states to be snake-free, the other being Hawaii.
According to our most conservative country estimates that were used to calculate the regional estimates, India had the highest number of deaths due to snakebite in the world with nearly 11,000 deaths annually. Bangladesh and Pakistan had over 1,000 deaths per year.
